Program Objectives

The objective of the ODP program is to produce highly skilled graduates who help surgeons and anaesthetic specialists to perform complicated and complex surgeries. Other than that this diploma program ensures the quality and sets a standard level for healthcare practitioners in Malaysia. This will enhance and upgrade the  healthcare quality in Malaysia.


The course duration is 2 to 3 years depending on the institute. Usually in Malaysia Diploma ODP is a full time 3 years course. It will consolidate academic studies and clinical training as both elements is vital.

The program is conducted through structured lectures, enquiry learning and the latest technology exposure. Importance placed in practicing teamwork and to play a significant role in the medical team. A higher percentage of emphasise will be placed in clinical practical training. The OPD Diploma program will train the graduates to manage their clinical burden effectively. Graduates will be trained to make the right decisions based on situations and information’s, effective communication and flexibility according to the situations.

By 60 per cent of their clinical training the ODP graduates will have real life situations in their plate. Entry Requirements

General requirements In Malaysia for ODP Diploma is minimum 5 credits in SPM including Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, General science or pure science and any other subjects. Other than that applicants must have minimum 5.5 IELTS and others requirements depend on the institute applied.

Career Prospects

ODP graduates will has vast employment prospects in medical healthcare line such as surgery, orthopaedic, obstetric, E & T. Graduates may also apply as health consultant, lecturing and training, research and healthcare management in private or government. ODP Diploma holders may even pursue their education to undergraduate level.
